DIWALI IN WELFORD RECEPTION

We have been celebrating DIWALI in Reception. The week started with an assembly by Mrs Devi who told a story in, Punjabi and English, of an elephant family preparing for and celebrating Diwali.

Diwali is about good triumphing over evil as in the story of Sita and Rama.

Some children came up on stage to dance.

Today we invited parents in to see our activities and help their children. We acted out the story of Rama and Sita.

Then the children dressed up and with parents were making Diva pots, Coconut Barfi, story masks, cutting out Diwali pictures, creating RANGOLI patterns, glittering-up fireworks pictures,  writing cards, making Mendhi patterns, dancing and making decorations. The feedback from parents was very positive.
